Solitude that illuminates; not exile as identity. Withdraw far enough to hear, then bring the lamp back down the mountain.

UPRIGHT
- +honest time alone with the actual question
- +mentorship that does not need a stage
- +stripping the week to what still glows
- −isolation worn as superiority
- −hiding from the cost of being known
- −advice given from a peak you will not descend
- IN LOVE
- Space can be devotion. Disappearing without a word is not. Say when you are on the mountain, and when you return.
- IN WORK
- Research, night labor, the unglamorous mastery. Do not confuse a lonely office with a vocation.
- IN SELF
- You may need fewer voices, not a better performance. The lantern is for walking, not for proving you were right to leave.
REVERSED
The peak has become a personality — or the lantern is out and you are still refusing company as if company were contamination.
- Blocked — the upright current exists and is dammed.
- Excess — the current is overplayed.
- Internalized — the drama is inner rather than worldly.
Inner Hermit is a needed retreat. Excess Hermit is exile as identity. Blocked Hermit will not sit still long enough to hear the question.
